West Palm Beach's Fall Calendar Now Runs Along One North–South Bus Line

What does a $1 electric bus have to do with a French brasserie opening on North Railroad Avenue in two weeks?

Quite a lot, as it turns out. On September 8, 2026, the City of West Palm Beach started fixed-route service on West Palm Move. It's a permanent, all-electric route that runs from the Norton Museum of Art to Northwood Village and back. It replaced the RideWPB pilot, which ended May 31. Put this fall's openings and returning events on a map and almost all of them land within a short walk of that one line. The Great Lawn, the Nora District and Northwood Road used to be three separate destinations, each with its own drive and parking. Now they sit on the same corridor, and when you can go depends on the bus schedule.

A Line Paid for by the Growth It Serves

The City's launch release says how the service is paid for. Funding comes from developer contributions, mobility fees, the Community Redevelopment Agency and parking fees. In other words, the new buildings along the corridor and the people who park near them help pay for the trips between them. Jessica Keller, the City's Parking & Mobility Administrator, described it as a way to avoid having "to get in their car for every trip."

The basics, from the City's release:

  • Fixed-Route fare: $1 per ride, tap to pay onboard
  • Frequency: every 8 to 10 minutes at launch. The West Palm Move fixed-route page now lists every 10 minutes
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • On-Demand: $2 per ride, daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., booked through the app, online or by phone at 561-264-0458
  • Transfers: free between the two services, with a flat $2 fare covering both

The route uses Olive Avenue, Rosemary Avenue, Quadrille Boulevard, Dixie Highway, Northwood Road, Spruce Avenue and 24th Street. On Saturdays the bus runs on Sapodilla Avenue instead of Rosemary. Those streets matter more than the fares, because they determine which of this season's events are an easy walk from a stop.

The Clematis end

GreenMarket's 32nd season began October 3 on the Great Lawn at 100 N. Clematis Street. It runs Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through May 22, 2027, except February 6 and March 20. This year's five new vendors are Ba Café, Arya Tea Bar, Macaroner, Sayblee Products and Truffle Smiles, and the Master Chef Showcase starts November 14. Saturday bus service starts at 8 a.m., half an hour before the market opens.

Clematis by Night keeps its Thursday format, 6 to 9 p.m. on the Great Lawn and Centennial Square. Clematis by FRIGHT falls on October 29. A block west, the street's lineup is changing. Grease Burger Bar closed on Clematis on July 17 after a run that started in 2009. The Palm Beach Post reports that 212 Bagel Co., owned by Max Ayoub and Gus Lange, is slated to open in November in the 500 block of Clematis Street.

Also nearby in early November, the City's next public-art installation from The Commons, "Feast for the Ears," will put work by five artists at the Mandel Public Library, José Martí Park and City Hall Plaza.

The Nora stops

The Palm Beach Post places the Nora District just west of North Dixie Highway, between 7th Street and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. North Railroad Avenue serves as its main street. The bus doesn't turn onto Railroad Avenue. It stops on Dixie at 8th and 10th Streets northbound and at 11th and 8th southbound, all short walks to Nora.

The biggest opening on the corridor this fall is there. The Nora Hotel at 1135 North Railroad Avenue officially opens October 19, according to the Nora District's event listing. It brings Pastis, an all-day French brasserie, and Jack's Bar, which the listing describes as a tribute to "the historic glamour and industrial grit of the neighborhood." The City has identified BD Hotels and Sean MacPherson as the hotel partners and STARR Restaurants as the operator behind Pastis. The hotel's own site also promotes a pool-deck bar called Lilly's Rooftop, but has not announced a separate opening date for it.

The hotel joins businesses that opened earlier this year. Del Mar, from Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, opened April 7. SWEAT440's Nora studio was reported open in February. The Garret Group announced the grand opening of Sports & Rec. in June. LUCE, a jewelry storefront founded by cousins Valan Kaye and Ty Yanowitch of the family behind Kravit Jewelers, held a preview opening September 24. Indaco, from Indigo Road Hospitality Group, is listed for late 2026. That's a year later than the late-2025 target the South Florida Business Journal reported in December 2024. Onia and Nami Nori have been announced for the district but don't have opening dates yet.

Nora's weekly schedule fits well with $1 rides. The district lists Loco's $1 Oyster Mondays and Taco Tuesdays, Del Mar's Wine Wednesdays, and Sports & Rec's Happy Meal Mondays and Chicken Social Tuesdays. The Halloween edition of Dogs & Dogs runs October 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. That's the same evening as Clematis by FRIGHT, so one route connects two Halloween events that night.

The Northwood end

At the northern end, Palm Beach Lobsters & Seafood at 2501 N. Dixie Highway is run by father-and-son commercial divers John Kyle Christoffers and Scott Christoffers. The CRA reported its grand opening in September 2025. The Catch Seafood & Sushi moved from Lake Park to 529 25th Street under husband-and-wife operators Jorge Paz and Tara Barnes. Its website takes reservations and pickup orders at the Northwood address. Quaban, an interior-design and furnishings studio at 444 Northwood Road, celebrated its grand opening last fall.

The next Nights in Northwood Village is Friday, November 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Northwood Road. The City lists more than 50 vendors and Jam-X The Band.

When the Timetable Doesn't Fit the Calendar

The corridor makes sense on a map. The schedule needs a closer look.

Clematis by Night and Nights in Northwood both end at 9 p.m., the same time weekday fixed-route service stops. On a Thursday or Friday, anyone who stays until the last song will likely be getting a ride home after the last bus. On-Demand keeps running until 10 p.m. every day. Transfers between the two are free. A rider heading from the fixed route to On-Demand shows the fixed-route driver the upcoming On-Demand booking, and the flat fare for both is $2.

Sunday mornings don't line up either. Sunday Service, the weekly vintage-car and coffee gathering at Sunday Motor Co. in Nora, starts at 7 a.m. The first Sunday bus runs at 8 a.m. On-Demand starts at 6 a.m., so an early car-show visit means a $2 On-Demand ride, or showing up an hour after the gates open.

The northern end of the route has a construction detour. Since September 28, the southbound stop at 24th Street and Dixie Highway has been closed indefinitely for construction. The nearest open stop is Northwood and Spruce, about four minutes' walk, and a temporary southbound stop is at 23rd and Dixie. Nearby, the City lists The District at Northwood as still under construction. That project includes extending Broadway from Northwood Road to 23rd Street and realigning Pinewood Avenue.

The Next Stop Is Still a Construction Fence

East of Northwood, Currie Park's 13-acre redevelopment at 2400 N. Flagler Drive is under construction. The City expects the first phase to reopen in spring 2027. The plans include an amphitheater, docks, a playground, a kayak launch, and pickleball and tennis courts. Breakwater Hospitality Group was chosen for a proposed 378-seat Sea Salt Beach House at the park. In July, the contract was still being negotiated and the restaurant was planned for a later phase. The CRA says it is still finalizing a property purchase and studying a conceptual alignment for extending Northwood Road across Dixie Highway to the park. Until that's done, the route ends where it does now, at 24th Street and Spruce Avenue.
